Pat Dooley is a native of Gainesville and a University of Florida graduate. He has been a sportswriter for 30 years and has covered myriad events including every major bowl game, five Super Bowls, the World Series, the College World Series (three times), the 1996 Summer Olympics and The Masters (nine times). Dooley has worked extensively in radio and has been at The Gainesville Sun since 1987 where he was named columnist in April of 1995. Recently, he claimed the prestigious Shelby Strothers Award for sports writing, and was named the Div. II columnist of the year. Dooley saw his first Florida football game in 1962, was a frequent visitor of the old Alligator Alley and has followed Gator sports since he was old enough to pay attention.
